Comprehensive exam
- Dr. Shin examines the tooth in question and your whole mouth.
- We take X-rays and a 3D CBCT scan when needed.
- We check your gums, bite and any existing dental work.
- You leave with a written plan, your options and the exact fees.
We have saved hundreds of teeth that patients were told to have extracted. Meet Dr. Shin in person or by video. Your current dentist can send us your X-rays before the visit.
Consultation $150, credited toward your treatment if you begin with us.
Hundreds
of teeth saved that patients had been told to remove.
Your own tooth keeps its root, its feel and the bone that holds it. Patients who keep their teeth tell us they chew, smile and feel better for it.
Once a tooth is removed, the bone around it begins to shrink. Replacing it later takes more time, more treatment and more cost.
Not every tooth can be saved. If yours cannot be saved predictably, we will tell you plainly and explain every option.

“I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Peter Shin and his entire office. … I felt in such good hands, so comfortable and confident in Dr. Peter’s work. … I’m so happy I found them, and I highly recommend them.”

Root canal retreatment can clear the infection and keep the tooth in place.
Root canal treatment and a crown can rebuild a tooth that looks beyond repair.
Crown lengthening can expose enough healthy tooth to hold a new crown.
Many cracks can be held together with a crown before they spread further.
Gum treatment and gum grafting can protect the root and steady the tooth.
Every tooth is different. Your exam shows which of these, if any, will work for you. Read our full guide to second opinions.
Both visits cost $150. The fee is credited toward your treatment if you begin with us.
The tooth that brought you in is our first priority, but it is rarely the whole story. We look at every tooth, your gums and your bite, so you leave knowing how to keep your mouth healthy for years to come.
Every tooth, filling and crown is checked, not only the one in question.
An in-office CBCT scan shows the root, the bone and any infection in three dimensions.
Healthy gums and an even bite are what keep a saved tooth working.
Your options, the order of treatment and the fees are set out in writing.

Only if you tell them. A second opinion is a normal part of good care, and we are glad to share our findings with your dentist if you ask.
We will tell you plainly and explain every option, including implants, bridges and partial dentures. You decide what happens next.
If you begin treatment with us, the $150 consultation fee is applied to your treatment. It appears as a credit on your first treatment bill.
Ask your current dentist to send us your most recent X-rays of the tooth and any 3D scan. Their office must provide copies on request, and our team can help arrange it when you book.
We are out of network with most PPO plans and submit claims on your behalf. Coverage for consultations varies by plan.
Not every tooth can be saved. Whether a tooth can be kept depends on each patient’s condition, and results vary.
A virtual consultation is not a substitute for an in-person examination. A diagnosis requires an examination.
